Dear Friends of Music,

The Land of the Sky Symphonic Band has been bringing fine music to Western North Carolina since 1990. As we prepare to celebrate our 24th year, we are committed to presenting one of our most successful concert seasons. Since its founding, the Land of the Sky Symphonic Band has become a focal point for musical energy in our community. The band presents a regular series of fine concerts for the general public and performs at schools and retirement communities.

As in earlier years, we will perform concerts in the Diana Wortham Theater and Brevard. Additional performances have been tentatively scheduled in Hendersonville, UNC Asheville, Asheville School, and St. Matthias Church. These latter performances are scheduled tentatively because their production depends upon additional support from community sponsors and community members who recognize the importance of music to the fabric of life in our region.

The Land of the Sky Symphonic Band provides everyone in our area the chance to enjoy quality band music in the long tradition of our state and our country. A great deal of effort has gone into planning this concert season but many expenses must be met and your support would help make a significant difference in the number of audiences who have a chance to engage in this great American tradition.

Supporters of the band are recognized in all printed programs distributed during performances. The Land of the Sky Symphonic Band is registered as a nonprofit corporation and is tax-exempt. The categories of support are listed below. Whatever category you choose, you can be assured that your contribution will be used to enrich and broaden the musical horizons of Western North Carolina, not only through community performances, but also through scholarships that allow young area musicians to attend summer music camps.

Thank you for your continued commitment to a vibrant community.

Very truly yours,
Dr. Dave Wilken, Music Director
